Hey guys! Â I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get sick of the same old rewards for speech therapy. Â I’m always trying to think outside of the box to keep things engaging for my students. Â As a mom, I’ve got to confess that candy is not my favorite item to use as a reward in therapy. Â I know, I know- it’s easy, and kids love it, but I’ve got some other great ideas I’d like to share with you too. Â In my new series, Fun Reinforcers for Speech Therapy, I’m going to offer ideas for non-food items that can easily be implemented into your speech room. Â These tips are sure to add a touch of fun and creativity to your sessions!
I’m here today to share my first idea with you. Â It’s perfect reinforcer for Easter speech therapy. Â All you need is some contact paper, tissue paper, and a marker. Â That’s it! Â Easy enough, right?
Materials Needed:Â
-contact paper
-scissors
-tissue paper (different colors)
-marker
Directions: Cut out several squares of different colors of tissue paper and set aside. Â Then, cut out a piece of contact paper- make it about the size of a regular letter-sized piece of paper. Â On the clear, but non-sticky part of the paper, draw an egg. Â Now, remove the paper to reveal the sticky part so it’s facing toward you. Â Now, bend about an inch of the sticky side back on the top and bottom so you can adhere the top and bottom parts to a hard surface. Â A window, mirror, or table will work great. Â Now, have your student place a colored piece of the tissue paper within the egg each time they complete a target, task, produce a desired response, etc. Â At the end of the session, they’ll have a beautifully colored Easter egg. Voila! A perfect reinforcer for Easter speech therapy.
