Free Podcasts for Stutterers with Muscular Tension

Free podcasts for Stutterers

In this blog, I will be sharing links to free podcasts for stutterers that talk about progressive muscle relaxation. I have a client who demonstrates a lot of muscular tension. I felt that she would benefit from progressive muscle relaxation. While I do not think that tension is the underlying cause of the problem, it could contribute to the problem. I think that progressive muscle relaxation and body scans are helpful ways to get a client to “check-in” with their body. Also, it helps determine where they might unknowingly be holding tension.

Free podcasts for stutterers

Here are some free podcasts that I stumbled across when researching for my client:

If you’d like to use progressive muscle relaxation during a session, here is a nice script to guide you through the process.  I do make some modifications to the script and have the client sitting in a chair throughout the exercise. Additionally, I add on some areas of the head and neck, for example, throat, jaw, lips, tongue, eyes, forehead, etc. This helps provide extra awareness of the “speech” regions and their surrounding areas.

Also, another thing we are working on is diaphragmatic breathing. My client does a lot of shallow “chest breathing” and I’m trying to reduce that. Here is a free podcast that guides you through a diaphragmatic breathing exercise.

I hope you find these free resources helpful!
