Peek into my Speech Room

I’ve really been loving these cute little bean bags that I got in the mail last week.  I purchased them on Etsy from Grandma’s Chalkboard.  How cute are they?

They are the perfect size for tossing around my speech room!  This week, I’ve been using them in conjunction my newest product, CVC Fun for Phonological Disorders, Apraxia, and Literacy.  You can use this product in many ways, but I’ve currently been using it to work on final consonant deletion.  I used the pictures with the target final sound we were working on and I assigned point values to the words using the cutouts in the packet.  I like to use the numbers as separate cutouts (vs. giving each word a set value) so I can manipulate the point value for certain sounds or words that might be more difficult for one client than another.  Once a certain number of points was accumulated a prize was obtained.  In my client’s case, he got a quick break to read a book or play with a puzzle.  To remind him of this, I used the score card with a reward reminder that is provided in the packet (I forgot to take a picture of that, but I posted the image file of that below).  This certainly helped to break up the monotony of producing his speech sounds.  I also put up visuals to to serve as reminders for certain “sound nicknames”.  Here’s a peek at how it looked when it was all set up:

It’s been lots of fun.  It’s kept the busy bodies engaged and up and moving and having a good time – always a great combo!
